Distressed Jeans

top: J.Crew [old] | jeans: Asos [love these]
shoes: Steve Madden | clutch: Tylie Malibu

I love distressed jeans [though, I don't wear mine very much] and I love black jeans.  WHY DIDN'T I HAVE THESE JEANS SOONER?!  Anyway, this is just a whole new level of black pants for me!  Taking my casual level down.  One rip at a time.  I love where the jeans hit on my ankles.  Perfect for spring and summer.  Just a tip, size up a couple sizes in these jeans!  I normally wear a 26; these are a size 28 and still so tight!!

Casual Dress Up

tee: vintage | skirt: H&M | booties: H&M

You know me.  I can't seem to dress up, even when I'm trying to dress up!  Love my midi skirt paired with a graphic tee.  Add some booties and a clutch for added details that pull the look together.

She's Got the Look: Karlie Kloss

Karlie Kloss . . . *sigh*!  She's been my favorite model for years and years.  She's so beautiful!  She dresses very well, too! Here's how to dress like Karlie [I wish so badly there was a recipe to looking like her!!].

My perfect outfit

top: H&M [recently in stores] | pants Joe's | heels: F21
clutch: Zara [old] | watch: Michael Kors | glasses: Ray-Ban

Hey, all!  Hope everyone is doing well!!  I'm back to wearing my very favorite outfit.  Grey top, black bottoms, fun shoes, and a great clutch.  And, of course, steal your man's sunglasses and watch.
I seriously love this top.  It's the perfect amount of baggy in the torso and the perfect amount of fit in the arms.  Perfect length, too!  Pair your bigger, baggier things with tighter counter-things.  Big top with tight bottoms, big bottoms with smaller tops.  All about balance!!  Add interesting shoes and a clutch and you've made yourself my favorite outfit.

If I had it my way, this is what I'd be wearing right now.

A New Yorker Wannabe

sweater: H&M | jeans: 7FAM | boots: Steve Madden [on sale!]
coat: BR | purse: Phillip Lim for Target [no longer available]

As you know, I was in New York City last weekend.  I tried to fit in as much as possible, by wearing all black, in the middle of Bryant Park.  A lady even asked me for directions!!  Anyway, I'm loving all black outfits, again...  I don't know how well that will fit in with spring!  Oh, well.  I was never one much for rules.

New Uniform?

cardigan: Prada [consignment find] | tank: Michael Stars | shoes: Steve Madden

April fools.  We all know I'm not changing my regular uniform -- grey!!  But I am still obsessed with my deep-closet find!!  I'm also obsessed with the green, black, white combo.  Oh, and these shoes, too.  Seriously, my favorite shoes.  So pretty, so comfortable!

She's Got the Look: Cheryl Cole

Love this sweet spring look.  Enough going on, but not screaming in your face.  The shape of the jacket  gives the outfit some edge, while the palette is very girly.  Balancing at its best!

My Best Accessory.

A little break from my usual Tuesday outfit post.  I have BIG news!!  Here's the skinny:

A few details you need to know for the story to make sense.
- Danny works weekends. Typically he's out of town somewhere between [or all of] Wednesday to Sunday.
- He was working in New Jersey and New York the previous weekend and told me he had work in Denver the weekend I'd be in NYC.
- Since Danny and I would be in NYC just a week apart, we thought it would be fun to do the same things as each other. So he gave me a list of things I would do while I was there that he had just done a few days before.  I know - we're cute:) haha!  On that list of things was going to the Observation Deck on top of Rockefeller Center.
- New York City is my favorite place on earth.  I grew up believing this city was built for me; which it was and is. :)

Anyway, a couple months ago, my parents asked me if I would like to go to New York with them.   This isn't an unusual thing for my dad to need to go to NYC, sometimes he has business there.  Also, it isn't weird for him to invite my mom and me along; very characteristic.  Luckily, I was able to make it happen with my work schedule.

Fast forward to Friday, March 28th.

My mom and I met up with my dad, who had flown in the day before, at our hotel.  My dad mentions, when we get there, that the hotel had given him free tickets to the Rockefeller Center, which is one of the things I promised Danny I would do!  It was perfect!  Free tickets to one of my destinations!  I didn't think much else of it.  So my parents and I killed time in midtown New York City until it was our allotted time to head to the Top of the Rock.  We went up the main elevator, as high as that would take us, got off, and searched for the way up to the very top.  We headed towards the elevator, but we were routed to the escalators.  We took them to the top.  So unbelievably beautiful!  You can see everything up there!  Lady Liberty, Empire State Building, the bridges, everything.  To get another view of the city, we walked around to the other side of the building, Dad, followed by me, followed by Mom.  My dad practically ran through the crowd and got so far ahead of me.  I started squeezing through the flood of people to try and catch up, only to see that a large crowd of people had formed in a half circle around the elevator, but I couldn't see what they were looking at yet.  So curious, I kept moving forward to see what all the commotion was about.  Then, I double-takingly saw Danny standing in the middle of that half circle.  My sweet, sweet Danny [who was supposed to be in Denver!!] holding a dozen of the most beautiful red roses and a small box.  I literally pushed and elbowed my way through the rest of the crowd and made my way to the opening in which Danny stood.  And, well you can watch the video to see what happens next:)

^^ So cute! So nervous!

Please excuse the poor quality of most of these photos.  iPhones.

Turns out, this whole weekend and surprise in New York had been in the works for a couple months. Put together and planned by Danny.  Danny didn't have work in Colorado, but in New York.  Danny's family [especially his sister and brother-in-law (they live in Long Island and were able to be there!!)] and my parents had been on this big secret the entire time!  My parents and I were supposed to take the elevator up to the very top, but were redirected by Rockefeller security to the escalators!  I kind of surprised Danny by popping out of the crowd rather than coming out of the elevator.  It didn't go exactly as Danny had planned, but it was perfect.

A HUGE and special thank you to my parents, Karen and Kelley.  Thank you for bringing me out to my favorite city, for all our fun outings, and helping make Danny's vision come to life!  Another big thanks to Landon and Alyse, Danny's sister and brother-in-law, for helping plan for this event, driving into the city and helping this vision reality!  And the biggest thank you of all, to my Danny!  I can't put into words just how grateful I am for my love and relationship with him.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  My fiancĂ© is honestly so sweet, so thoughtful, so WONDERFUL!  I'm the luckiest girl in the world. Guys, I'm ENGAGED!  Such an amazing weekend filled with so much love.  New York City just got even higher on my list of favorites.
